NW Juniors Elite Volleyball Club is proud to announce it has assembled one of the best coaching staffs in the region! This staff includes collegiate coaches and collegiate players, several local respected high school coaches, and multiple former NWJRS players who competed for us, went on to play collegiately and now are back. As a group, we have some of the top volleyball minds on staff!
Our entire staff is IMPACT and Safe Sport certified and our coaches annually attend the NW Juniors Elite Coaches Clinic led by Club Director, Tony Miranda. Several coaches have their CAP certification; high school coaches have their CPR certification and regularly attend WIAA Coaching Clinics. Our experienced staff guides our new coaches to ensure that all of our coaches find success.
All of our coaches share a love of the game of volleyball, and a love and passion for NW Juniors Elite and all the players that pass through our doors. Several coaches compete indoors and on the beach -- our coaches have a passion for the game of volleyball and that passion shows when they coach our athletes. TONY MIRANDA - CLUB DIRECTOR
Tony has experience playing and coaching indoors and outdoors. He has been involved on the indoor part of the club since 1989 and has been involved in the growth of junior beach volleyball here in the Northwest since before the very first USA Beach Tour "Western Open". His NW Juniors-sponsored beach tournaments at Alki Beach are where the junior beach movement here in the area started.
In addition to regular indoor coaching duties, Tony offer his assistance to players in preparing for college and act as a liaison between the players and recruiters as the club’s recruiting coordinator. He also oversees the direction and growth of our junior and adult beach programs and runs a Junior College beach championship event every May.
Tony is currently the head coach at Edmonds Community College and enters his third season back. He has extensive college coaching experience, having spent the 2005-2009 seasons at Edmonds Community College (3 NWAACC Tournament appearances and a 3rd place in 2008); four years at Bellevue College (finished his career there with a record of 39-9 in the North Division and 124 – 76 overall, was voted coach of the year in the Northern Division in 2001 & 2002, and in 2002 was voted all-NWAACC coach of the year); and two years as assistant coach at Seattle Pacific University in 1999 & 2000.
Tony has been involved with Northwest Juniors VBC since 1989 and has been the director of the club since 2000. Over the years, Tony has taken several teams to YJOV National Championship events. Tony’s responsibilities also include coaches education and beach programming.
VETTIAR CHUP
"V" started coaching with NW Juniors VBC in 2009 when he was also the Graduate Assistant Coach at Edmonds Community College. He has also coached one season for Lake Tapps. He has served as a coach at Everett High School for the 2010 & 2011 seasons. "V" has coached all ages while at NW Juniors, is one of our more popular coaches and has done a great job in training athletes. He plays indoor and outdoor volleyball and brings great youth and enthusiasm to the staff. He is a patient and knowledgeable coach with a great understanding of the game.
DEBBIE MIRANDA
Debbie started her coaching career in 2001 and has coached for NW Juniors since 2009.
Other Duties: Off-and-on Club Administrator since 2014. 2018 - Assistant Coach at Edmonds College. Also coaches at NW Juniors Summer Camps, NW Juniors Beach Camps, and Fall Academy. Tournament Director.
Your coaching philosophy: My goal is to always bring out the best from these student athletes, whether it be on the court or off. To teach the skills it takes to be the very best volleyball player you can be as an individual and as a team. I believe hard work pays off in everything you to do in life.
Why do you coach? I love teaching this game, and watching these young girls grow as volleyball players and into young ladies.
Any coaching accomplishments? 2012 & 2013, led my NW Jrs teams to the Junior National Championships.

CAITLIN SYLVESTER
Caitlin has coached for NW Juniors since 2011. She is in her second season as an assistant coach at Edmonds Community College and oversees the libero's and defense. She has been a head coach or assistant club coach for different aged teams throughout her tenure with the club. She has also coached high school volleyball locally including serving as the JV coach at Holy Names Academy in 2016.
She completed her Certificate in Medical Assisting at PIMA Medical Institute and worked her internship as a Medical Assistant at Alderwood Ankle and Foot Clinic.
Caitlin graduated in 2008 from Bishop Blanchet HS and played four years for NW Juniors VBC. She also played two seasons as a DS/Libero for Edmonds Community College. Caitlin's 2008 Edmonds team took 3rd in the NWAAC Championship tournament. While a Edmonds Caitlin coached camps and club and has continued to coach club after leaving Edmonds.
KELCI STEWART
Kelci is a graduate of Kentwood HS and has played volleyball for 8 years, Five of those seasons she played club including her last three seasons with NW JRS. She did not play in college, but stayed active as a player after graduating high school.
She joined the NW Juniors staff for the 2013-14 season and has been fantastic with our younger athletes. Her coaching career started in the Kent parks recreational league in 2009-2010 where her teams went undefeated for two seasons.
Her coaching philosophy: She believes that how you practice, is how you play. She teaches the game with a positive attitude and works hard on building a team who can come together to accomplish goals that they set.
Why does she coach? "Volleyball is my passion and I have had amazing coaches who have impacted who I am today. I want to give back!"
Her other interests & hobbies include photography, traveling, and hanging around the city.
ALYX PACKARD
Alyx Packard has been with NW Juniors since 2015. She was formerly on staff at Lake Washington HS, and is now the head coach at Juanita HS. She has head coached several seasons with NW Juniors Elite VBC working primarily with the 14's through 16's age groups. She played for Northwest Juniors when she was a student at Mountlake Terrace HS and has also coached several years with the Alderwood Boys and Girls Club and coached middle school athletes for 8 seasons either with Alderwood BGC or the Brier Terrace MS. She is passionate about coaching and has excelled in each of her seasons with the club.
She has coached in the NW Juniors Elite's Fall Academy several seasons. She is an active player and plays in several adult women's and coed leagues as well as in outdoor tournaments throughout the summer.
SABRY HEFNY
Sabry started with NW Juniors in 2015. He is currently the head volleyball coach at Forest Ridge in Bellevue and has over 15 years coaching experience. He has coached in Egypt, Minnesota, and Seattle. Over the years, he has done a fantastic job developing our younger teams and focuses on fundamentals and teamwork. He has proven to be a fantastic technical coach and is able to coach players of varying ages and skill levels.
Previous to coaching with NW Juniors, he was an area director and coach for Sabotage VBC. With Sabotage, he coached 12's, 15's, 16's and 18's. His versatility as a coach and trainer allows him to be successful at varying age groups. He has also served as assistant and JV coach at Jackson and Bellevue High Schools. He also brings 10 years of professional playing experience.

OKSANA GREYDINGER
Oksana has been actively involved in club volleyball as a coach while coaching her 2 young daughters. Oksana had previously coached at ITVC for two seasons, and started coaching for NW Juniors in 2017. Throughout her club coaching career she has coached primarily U12 - U14's teams. Before moving to Washington she coached 12's and 13's with the Florida Suns Volleyball Club. She was also the setting coach for all ages for the Florida Suns.
Oksana played at Miami Dade College, where she was NJCAA national runner up twice, then moved to play at NCAA Division 1 volleyball at Georgia State University where she was the starting setter.
GLENN MOEN
Glenn started coaching for NW Juniors in 2016 as an assistant on the 12 UA Blue team his daughter Kate played on. Fast forward to 2021 and he is coaching 13 UA Blue with Kate as his assistant.
Glenn brings over thirty years of volleyball experience with him. He has coached at many levels including high school, adult men's and women's teams, He also has nine years as a collegiate head coach at Simmons College in Boston (NCAA DIII), and the men's team at the University of Wisconsin (NCAA DI). Aside from coaching, Glenn has also played extensively. He has also been a referee, tournament director regional board member, camp director, and volleyball clinician.

ZOEY LANGE
Zoey started playing volleyball in the 5th grade and picked up club in the 9th grade. She played for NW Juniors from 10-12th grades and that coincided with her three years on varsity at Cascade HS in Everett. Her senior year, her U18 team was one of the top teams in the region and qualified for Nationals.
She started coaching club and Fall Academy for NW Juniors VBC in 2017. During her first two seasons as a club coach, she served as an assistant for U12's and U13's. She has had great mentors as a player and as a coach in the club and has been prepared for a successful career as a head coach for NW Juniors.
She remains active as a player and plays in several adult leagues and outdoor tournaments.
She is IMPACT and Safe Sport certified and has attended several NW Juniors Coaching clinics.
RICK FARRELL
Rick Farrell started coaching with NW Juniors in 2017 and joined the Edmonds College staff in the Fall of 2019. His coaching experience started over 15 years ago with the Mukilteo Boys and Girls Club. From there, he joined Mukilteo Volleyball Association (MVA), first as an assistant coach and then head coach.
Rick is dedicated to player development and the learning process. He earned his CAP I Certification through USAV to further his education and expand his knowledge of the game. He has been employed with the City of Mountlake Terrace for 31 years and is married with two daughters.
MANDI MORRISSON
Mandi has played 10+ years of volleyball with the majority being spent as a middle blocker as well as an outside hitter. She played three years of club, and two with NW Juniors from 2007-2009. She played for Snohomish High School which included a 5th place finish at the 4A State Championships in 2010. Currently, Mandi continues to play in various co-ed tournaments and local open gyms.
Mandi's started coaching with NW Juniors in 2018. She has coached primarilu U15 and U16's teams and has also worked with our Fall Academy program.
She brings a positive and supportive approach to the court while maintaining high expectations of players and a strong competitive spirit.
She is IMPACT and Safe Sport certified in addition to having attended multiple NW Juniors coaching clinics.
KEALEY STANICH
Kealey started coaching for NW Juinors during the 2019-20 season. She moved to the area in 2019 and is a Health and Fitness Teacher in the Northshore School District. She is a graduate of Eastern Washington University, having graduated with a Major in Health and Fitness as well as a Minor in Coaching.
Kealey is currently in her second year as the 1st assistant at Edmonds College. Before moving to the area, Kealey coached the Eastern Washington University Women's club team for 2 seasons (2014 & 2015). In 2016, she was the C-team Head and Varsity Assistant Coach at Medical Lake High School.
From 2009-2012, she played volleyball at Cascade HS in Leavenworth, WA finishing in the top 6 at the state tournament 3 out of her 4 seasons. She played club volleyball at NCW VBC in Wenatchee (2009-10) and Kodiak Club in Leavenworth (2010-2012). While at Eastern, she played on the Eastern Washington University Women's volleyball club team, and competed at the College club national championship tournament.
While in Spokane she attended several coaching clinics while securing her Minor in Coaching.
CHRIS HUI
Chris started as an assistant coach to Vettiar Chup in 2016 and moved up to head coaching during the 2019-20 Season. He started his club coaching career in 2015 at Lake Tapps VBC. Chris has also worked with our Beach program as a program assistant and staff coach. Chris plays adult leagues indoors and also plays outdoors during the summer.
He is IMPACT and Safe Sport certified.
MEGAN BIRCH
Megan returns to Northwest Juniors for the 2021 season after assisting the 16 UA Blue team in 2020. As a player Megan played club for Washington Volleyball Academy 15’s-18’s and then went on to attend University of the Pacific in Stockton, California where she played four years of Division 1 indoor and beach volleyball. After her undergraduate career at Pacific, Megan was then the graduate assistant for the Pacific indoor program and assistant coach for the beach team for two years while she received her masters degree in sports marketing.
Her club coaching experience includes Pacific Coast Volleyball 15-1 and Washington Volleyball Academy 18-1 and 14-2 prior coming to Northwest Juniors.
Megan is IMPACT and Safe Sport certified.
CARLEE ROWELL
Carlee has been coaching indoor and beach volleyball with NW Juniors since the 2017-18 season. In spring 2021, she will graduate from UW with a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering. Last season, she played on the UW club volleyball team. Before transferring to UW, she attended and played at Bellevue College where she made second all-tournament team at the NWAC championships and her team took second in their league.
Carlee grew up in Tri-Cities, Washington playing for Kamiakin HS and Shockwave VBC. She played at five different Nationals with her club team.
HEATHER GOODMAN
Heather Goodman grew up in Florida where she played volleyball all through middle school and high school. During her high school career she won numerous athletic awards, including region player of the year her senior season.
Heather moved to Washington where she attended and played for Edmonds College. She was captain both years at Edmonds and helped lead her teammates through very successful seasons - including a 4th place finish at the NWAC tournament.
Heather started coaching for NW Juniors during the 2018-19 season and 2021 will be her first season as a head coach. Her first two seasons she assisted the 12 UA Black and 13 UA Black teams. She also has spent the last two summers on staff with NW Juniors Volleyball Camps.
WES VANDEVANTER
West started coaching for NWJRS during the 2019-20 season. He has coached 15s and 16's indoors and also coaches for the beach club and fall academy. He coaches volleyball & softball and teaches math at Interlake High School where he is going into his 3rd year as the JV coach. Before that, he had the privilege of serving as a student manager for the UW women's volleyball team under Jim McLaughlin and Keegan Cook from 2011-2015 where he got to experience gold medal squared philosophy, while winning a Pac-12 championship and earning a final four appearance. In his free time he plays competitively in indoor, grass and sand tournaments in the area.

MADDIE SHARP
2021 marks Maddie's first year coaching for NW Juniors. In the past, she has coached a U16 club team, along with several youth rec leagues, while attending Washington State University for her degree in Education. Volleyball has been a major part of her life in many capacities. She started playing at 8 years old in a rec league and soon became passionate for this amazing sport! She played club for many years in local Puget Sound area clubs. She mostly played defensive specialist positions, but also set and hit right side. Maddie eventually left for college and continued to play in intramural leagues at Washington State. Upon graduating, she moved to the east side of Washington and continued to play in adult recreation leagues. She had been wanting to get back into the club coaching world and found a great opportunity with NW Juniors!
Her coaching and teaching philosophy mirror each other. She is passionate about helping youth to learn and grow. Maddie believes in positive reinforcement on the court and in life.Volleyball can teach so many amazing life lessons; teamwork, leadership, communication, etc. She is thrilled to be able to share such a great sport with promising, young athletes.
OCTAVIO MEDINA
Octavio comes to us after running his own indoor and beach club, Prodeporte Volleyball Academy, in Mexico. He has extensive indoor and beach coaching experience. He brings with him several International coaching certifications.
Octavio moved to Redmond in 2019 and continues to play beach volleyball in tournaments all over the Northwest. This is his first club coaching position since moving to the area.
SHELBY SHACKELFORD
2020-21 marks Shelby's first season coaching with NW Juniors. Shelby has been involved with volleyball for most of her life. She played volleyball through her high school years and even went on to playing for Skagit Valley Community College while earning her Associates degree in Biology. She recently graduated from Eastern Washington University with her Biochemistry/ Chemistry Bachelor’s degree. Her coaching experiences include teaching private lessons and summer programs. In her spare time, she enjoys going on hikes and being by the ocean.
