TOURNAMENT INFORMATION:
2026 marks our 23rd year running the MLK Weekend tournament in. We utilize schools in the South Seattle/Tacoma area and keep costs down. Teams get at least two matches on Monday/playoff day.

We are accepting teams first PAID, first in until the event fills.  This should be a great early season test for teams from all 3 neighboring regions and Canada. We know that there are an increasing number of opportunities to play over the MLK Weekend, you can always count on a well-run event with NW Juniors

For the U14's and U16's:

  • Three-day Tournament, entry fee $600 before the 12/15/25 entry deadline
  • 14 courts in 5 locations: Washington HS (4), Franklin Pierce HS (4), Sunrise Courts (4), Dakine Sports Center (2). We plan to keep a hard cap of team entries, so register and pay early to guarantee your spot.
  • U14 Division (Up to 56 Teams Total): AM WAVE Saturday and Sunday, first rounds of playoffs Monday. 8:00 Start all three days.
  • U16 Division (Up to 40 Teams Total): PM WAVE Saturday and Sunday, second rounds of playoffs Monday. Play starts at 3:00 PM Saturday and Sunday, and 1 PM Monday.

Entry fee is refundable if the tournament is cancelled. Payment is required for acceptance, and teams will be accepted first PAID, first in. Registration date does not determine order, nor guarantee acceptance. There is a $50 administration fee for teams that drop after payment. No refunds after the entry deadline.

For out-of-region teams, this is a stay and play tournament. Teams will be accepted after they pay AND after they have secured their hotel block (minimum 4 rooms per team).

Instructions for Canadian Teams

We typically get quite a few Canadian teams in our tournaments.  Roster verification is now handled by the USA Volleyball National Office; however, we encourage Canadian teams to connect with our Region Office so that the region can connect you with the proper contact at USAV. The National Office will collect your documents and contact us to inform us that your team is able to participate. Please do not procrastinate. The USA Volleyball National office WILL NOT allow your team to play without proper documentation.

We look forward to hosting your teams this year!

COACHES MEETINGS & ROSTER

ROSTER REMINDER

We know it's tough to find all the information spread out over the page, so here is the information on rosters:

  1. There will be a coaches meeting at your Day 1 location, 30 minutes before play begins. Days 2 & 3, no coaches meeting, but there may be a site meeting to review gym rules.
  2. You must bring your USAV roster with you to the coaches meeting. Only cross off the players that are not playing AT ALL this weekend. This is your official roster for the tournament.
  3. You will sign and turn in your USAV roster at the coaches meeting Saturday. For Canadian teams, you will turn in your approved roster supplied through USA Volleyball.
  4. We will give the AES rosters to our Tournament directors as a reference. The USAV Roster gets turned into our Region office and is the only roster you need to sign.
  5. We no longer collect two rosters.
  6. Because it is a multi-day tournament, you only turn in the roster on the first day.

If you need to make changes to your AES roster after the roster deadline, please email our tournament director (info@nwvolleyball.com).

The USAV roster is the official roster for the tournament, so please make sure your USAV roster is accurate (this includes making sure waivered players are on your USAV Roster) - this is the roster you turn in at the coaches meeting on the first day of play and this roster must be accurate. Once you turn in your USAV roster, you cannot make changes.

WAIVERED PLAYERS AND ROSTERS

Coaches, note that we do not have the ability to add waivered players to AES rosters. That can only be done at the AES/USA Volleyball level.  If you have waivered players, we are aware that they will not appear on your AES roster.  As long as they are on your USAV roster turned in at the coaches meeting -- then they will be legal to play this weekend.
