CLUB MISSIONS

Our teams have different goals.

Our Platinum Teams main goal is to help athletes move on to play in college by giving them the tools necessary to not only earn scholarships but also be successful wherever they go.

Our #1 and #2 teams are set up to compete at the highest level both within the region and Nationally. As a result, our mission, goals, playing time rules, costs, amount of training, travel, etc. are different.

Our #3 and #4 teams are set up to compete at a level that fits the team. In the past, we have had highly competitive #3 & #4 teams and we have had teams that are not. Regardless, the mission of this team program is to provide opportunities; because we feel that the sport of volleyball is for everyone, not just the "elite" athlete.  It is a life-long sport for players of all levels and all ages. We do select top athletes to compete in our #3 program, but the mission is geared towards development and growth.

NWJRS Elite VBC --U16 & U17 Platinum Teams

NEW as of 2025/2026 club Season: one U17 and one U16 team in 2025-26 and draw athletes whose main goal is to play college volleyball. We will add U18 and U15 for the 2026-27 season. The teams will not be separated by geography like our typical “Eastside” and “Northend” teams. We plan to split practices between our two locations and draw athletes from all over the greater Puget Sound area.

Our goal for these teams is to help athletes move on to play in college by giving them the tools necessary to not only earn scholarships but also be successful wherever they go. Our staff will be comprised of current and former college coaches and athletes. Current committed staff are Tony Miranda, Vettiar Chup (University of Puget Sound), and Eric Han (fmr. UPS); with more coaches being added.

We understand that great volleyball players need more than the experience of being on a #1 team and playing in a season filled with tournaments that will get them noticed. They need other tools to be successful once they arrive on campus:

  • They need to know and understand how to be an active participant in their growth and success on and off the court.
  • They need to learn how to “be coached” by coaches that will ask them to continually improve and be accountable.
  • They need to learn how to be good teammates.
  • They need to prioritize academics.
  • They need to take personal control of their recruiting process.
  • They need to put themselves in front of recruiters as often as possible.
  • They need to become familiar with the weight room

Training Plan:

  • 2 practices per week
  • Positional training
  • Additional athletic training (either weight room or Speed and Agility based)
  • Participate in tournaments that put them in front of recruiters; tournaments that have College Combines that offer added exposure. The tournaments will be selected and finalized once National Qualifier schedules are published.
  • PSR Power League and bid tournament to try to earn a region based bid to USAV Nationals.

NWJRS Elite VBC -- Program #1 & #2 Teams: (Blue & Black) & (Grey & White)

INTRODUCTION

The Northwest Juniors Elite VBC fields our #1 and #2 teams which compete in USA Volleyball tournaments in the 12-Under through 18-Under age divisions.  These teams play a Nationally Competitive Schedule and travel to different parts of the country seeking the best competition available.

We offer a #1 and in some cases #1 and #2 teams in their age group in a given location (we often field two teams in the U14-U16 age groups). Players selected for our #1 and #2 teams will compete in regular season tournaments from January through May.

These teams also have the opportunity to continue past May if they qualify for Nationals.

Tournaments during the regular season are selected to give our teams an opportunity to play regionally and nationally competitive teams and  give them a chance to qualify for the Junior National Championship Tournament.

*Our #1 and #2 Under Armour teams tournament schedules are posted at the bottom of our team page.

NWJRS Elite VBC -- Program #3 & #4 Teams (Aqua, Teal, Navy)

The Northwest Juniors #3 & #4 Team program is a lower cost program that provides strong coaching and competition against clubs in the Puget Sound Region. All teams travel to one out of region tournament.  Overnight stay in our club hosted tournaments in Centralia is optional. The season ends the last weekend of April, or first weekend of May depending on Power League.

  •  Our #3 & #4 teams practice 2 times per week. Often at least one practice is on the weekend.
  • There are three periods during the season where these teams may have limited practice because of limited gym availability (Winter Break, Mid-Winter Break, & Spring Break).

*Our #3 & #4 teams tournament schedules are posted at the bottom of our team page.

Tryouts are required for all of our indoor club teams.

#1 and #2 Teams Mission Statement (Blue & Black)

Our Team program for #1 & #2 teams was founded to give local athletes who are motivated to play volleyball at the collegiate level an opportunity to excel, receive advanced training, and gain exposure for their hard work and dedication.

We do this by providing an environment where these motivated athletes will be exposed to high levels of training with an emphasis on fundamentals and sportsmanship, be given opportunities to compete with the best teams in the country, and offer them the tools to be successful. Among the tools we will provide:

  • Training in sound systems of play used by the some of the greatest teams in the world. Many of our coaches are versed and trained in the Gold Medal Squared systems of play as well as other systems used by college programs throughout the country. We do not advocate just one system of play as there are many systems taught at the collegiate level. We like our athletes to be well-rounded.
  • Tools to promote themselves to college recruiters
  • Promote leadership and teach the importance of team unity.
  • Stress the importance of personal discipline, organizational skills, time management, and character building.

#3 and #4 Teams Mission Statement (Aqua, Teal, Navy)

Our #3 and #4 teams are committed to providing opportunities for young athletes at all levels of development to engage in quality, competitive experiences. We are dedicated to the idea that any player, regardless of size or skill level, who wants to participate in the USAV Junior Volleyball Program, should be given that opportunity.

A competitive athletic experience can instill good work habits, enhance social development, contribute to mental and physical health, and teach values of personal responsibility, self-discipline, self-motivation, and teamwork. Participation in junior volleyball also improves the athlete’s opportunity to realize the goals of:

  • Improving individual skills and ability to play and contribute as a member of a team.
  • Earning or keeping a position on the school volleyball team.
  • Setting themselves up to earn a college scholarship.

Each of the above goals involves individual player growth. This includes improvement in skill level AND in the mental outlook necessary to be a successful member of a volleyball team. The Northwest Juniors philosophy regarding player growth is simple; one must play to improve. Regional teams' focus is on skill development through practice/training and the inclusion of competition to use those skills at game-speed.
