On the first session of camp all players will participate in brief testing and skill-work. Using the results, campers will be placed in an appropriate skill group. This skill group will progress through all volleyball skills and team skills together. We strive to keep a 8-10 to 1 player to coach ratio for all of our camps. Please note that these are not OVERNIGHT CAMPS.
What’s the Difference? The best way we can describe the difference between the three camp formats is this way:
ALL SKILLS CAMPS Individual player ability/skills are assessed at first practice to group players with similar levels of play. The assignment of players to groups is at the discretion of the coaching staff..
Basic All Skills: They are about 65% individual skill instruction and drills; 35% team game-like instruction and drills. They are good for players of all skill levels and our most popular camps.
Intermediate - Advance Skills: They are about 50% basic skills instruction and drills; 50% game-like and are good for high school players that have a mastery of skills and a good understanding of team concepts.
HS SELECT are Advanced/Elite Camps. Primarily for club players and candidates for our National Teams. They are about 40% skill development and 60% live-game play.
All camps offer a great curriculum, but differ in the amount of time spent on individual skill instruction versus game instruction and game play. Please be realistic in the assessment of your athlete’s skill level so that they can benefit the most from whichever camp you enroll them in. In all cases, our camp directors reserve the right to reclassify athletes if they are enrolled in the incorrect camp.
**Camp descriptions, staff, and "What to bring to camp" are located on this page below our Summer Camp Schedule.
Scroll down for camp descriptions & "What to Bring" to camp.
**Please note: Our “All Skills” camps are for players of all skill levels. The main difference is the age range at the camp so that we can try to keep players of similar age on the court together. All of our "All Skills" camps, we separate campers by age and skill during our first session on the first day of camp to ensure that they are with similarly aged or skilled athletes.
**Registrations are accepted on a first come basis.
All camps require AAU Membership except our Pre-Tryout Camps are USAV. Cost is not included in our camp registration. Camp registration is Non-Refundable.
**LUNCH IS INCLUDED WITH BEACH CAMPS.

WHAT TO BRING TO INDOOR CAMP
DO NOT bring valuables to camp!
Typical Daily Schedule
CAMP STARTS (See camp listing): check-in begins 30 minutes prior. When campers arrive, they can put their belonging in one of the boxed areas under our outdoor pavilion (it will make sense when they arrive)
CAMP ENDS (See camp listing). Please be on time to pick-up your camper. Our camps are typically followed by our beach club practices and we need to get campers out and do our cleaning before our beach club members arrive.
Because it is an outdoor camp and can be taxing, we have shorter sessions and take frequent water breaks. We also take a snack break.
WHAT TO BRING TO BEACH CAMP
DO NOT bring valuables to camp!
Please note, all of our camps are designed as 3-4-day camps. Most of our beach camps are shorter (hours and days) because the elements (heat and sun) and the sand tend wear out campers faster than the climate controlled confines of the gym. There are usually less campers per court in sand camps, which also means more touches and faster improvement.
We introduce (beginning courts) or enhance (intermediate-advanced courts) all the individual skills on the first two days of camp. Indoors, we also introduce skill appropriate concepts of team offense and team defense. On the beach we introduce offensive and defensive doubles strategies. Day 3 is usually built towards improving the individual skills within a team or game setting, and Day 4 is usually game our tournament play. In our sand camps, we tend to integrate doubles into game play throughout the camp.
**For the 3 day Advanced Skills indoor camp we spend less time on individual skill drills and more time on game play. When we work individual skills, we do so primarily within the team framework.
These camps are for players of any skill level. Each camp has a different age range depending on available courts and we gear the content to the age range of the camp. In the all skills camps we do as described - we introduce and improve all of the skills in volleyball. During the first session we assess players and group players by age and skill. It is most important to have players of similar skill on the same court in order to keep each court moving at the proper pace. Some of our All Skills Camps are for Intermediate players only and are listed as such in the camp description.
These full-day camps spend a great deal of time on individual skill development. We will take each of the skills in volleyball (pass, serve, hit, set, defend, block) and teach the athletes the skills using simple key words and demonstrations. For those that already have experience, we aim the drills and feedback towards improvement and mastery. The ultimate goal is for each athlete to dramatically improve their level of play and their appreciation for the sport of volleyball. That requires a lot of contacts, so regardless of the skill level of the player, they can benefit from the camp.
Areas that are heavily emphasized are ball control, movement, attack footwork, and some blocking footwork. depending on their skill level, there will also be time spent on basic concepts of team defense, serve-receive offense, and transition defense/offense. Included also are brief forums on various subjects including club volleyball, goal-setting, and when applicable college playing opportunities. This is a great camp for those new to volleyball AND those looking to improve in their skills. By grouping campers by their skill level and running skill-appropriate drills, even the advanced players can reap the benefits of our All Skill Camps.
Our advanced/intermediate camps are reserved for experienced High School athletes who will be in the 9th through 12th grades in the Fall. If you are a first time volleyball player in the 9-12th grade, please register for an all-skills camp.
These are our most popular camps for High School-aged Athletes. This camp is designed to give varsity and JV-level athletes some advanced training they can't get at an all-skills camp. Also, the overall level of play should be greatly increased because it is a high school only camp. The camp will concentrate on individual skill-building through advanced skill drills and position tutoring. The afternoons feature a lot of scrimmage-style drills, so experience is a must for success in this camp. This camp spends about 50% of the time on team-related skill improvement — exactly what high school athletes need to stay sharp over the summer. Campers will spend morning sessions on individual skill development and afternoon sessions will emphasize game-play and team strategies. An additional feature of this camp may be discussions on college recruiting.
Our end of Summer High School Select camp is for exceptional JV & Varsity level High School athletes who will be in the 10th through 12th grade in the Fall. There is limited space in the camp as it is held at the NW Juniors 2-court practice facility for Northend athletes and at Bellevue College for Eastside Athletes. All elite athletes with club experience are encouraged to register. Tenth graders looking for that extra edge before HS tryouts begin are encouraged to enroll. We can only accept 28 athletes in the Northend and 42 on the Eastside, and we reserve the right to limit enrollment by position. This Camp runs 3 days.
This camp is designed to give serious athletes some advanced training before the start of their high school seasons. Also, the overall level of play should be greatly increased because it is a high school/JV-Varsity only camp. This camp is similar to the individual skill camps, only it is designed for the advanced volleyball player. The camp will concentrate on individual skill-building through tutoring, leadership skills, and give campers an opportunity to work with the NW Juniors Elite VBC coaching staff and the Edmonds College staff and players. There will be a lot of scrimmage-style drills to get the athletes sharp before the start of the season. Athletes will spend morning sessions on individual skill development and afternoon sessions on game-play and team strategies. An additional feature of this camp will be discussions on college recruiting and off-season training.
