Back by popular demand is our Alki Beach Tournament Series.

NORTHWEST VOLLEYBALL FOUNDATION IS THE OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT HOST FOR OUR 2016 SUMMER SERIES


2016 Alki Beach Tournament Schedule

Below is our Alki Beach Tournament Schedule for the 2016 Season.

In General, this will be our lineup all summer:

  • SATURDAY AM ROUND: U12 & U14 Doubles, 28 teams max
  • SATURDAY PM ROUND: U16 & U18 Doubles, 20 teams max
  • SUNDAY AM ROUND: "OPEN" & "CLUB" Doubles, 28 teams max. Teams enter by skill level, but U16 and older teams cannot play CLUB
  • SUNDAY PM ROUND: U12/14 & U16/18 Fours, 20 teams max

** The City of Seattle has limited all beach tournaments to just 7 nets at Alki Beach. As a result we have modified our tournaments to AM/PM this year. We feel this will give more teams the opportunity to play, and still get a good tournament experience. By going in waves (rather than implementing 5 team pools) we will be able to keep our format to 3 or 4 teams in pool play and single elimination tournament play. This format allows for less waiting time between matches. We will use all 7 courts for the AM round, and 5 courts for the PM round, which keeps 2 of the courts available for the completion of playoffs in the AM round. This is our first year having to make these changes, so we hope you will remain patient as our VERY EXPERIENCED tournament directors work out the best timeline each day. Your great tournament experience is our first priority.

2016 Bottega Events

We will also be running some events at Bottega Fitness in Clearview. We have partnered with Bottega and will be offering Beach Club training there in addition to the events we have added to our schedule. For all Bottega tournaments, we will be able to accept up to 16 teams in each division. More information on how to register for these tournaments will be added soon.

  • AM will be U12/14
  • PM will be U16/18

Before you Register:

Only one player registers their team for a tournament.  You may register for more then one tournament at a time.  Once you have selected the tournaments your team would like to participate in, you will be asked for your teammate(s) name(s) and USAV number(s).  Registrations are not complete until payment is made.  Payment is due at the time of registration so please be sure to have your debit or credit card ready.  We accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

Additional Registration Paperwork

The following documents are required at check-in.  We will keep them on file throughout the summer, so you only need to turn them in once for NW Volleyball events.  

  • PROOF OF USAV MEMBERSHIP (Individual Membership Card): How do you get it? All participants in Northwest Volleyball outdoor events must be USAV Members.  
  • If you did not play club or played in Canada, you will need to register with USAV Membership . New members here. 
  • If you are a member: Go to the USAV Membership Login Page and enter your personal Username and Password.  Once you are on your personal page, look to the left column, and click "Print Membership Card" and print that page.  That is your USAV Card.  Print out an extra copy for yourself and keep it with you... just in case.
  • Medical History & Release FormIf you played club this year, this is the same one you gave to your club or coach at the beginning of the season.  This is information the tournament director must collect in case you get injured at a tournament.  It helps the Tournament Director know what procedures your parents want used to treat your injuries.  It is also medical history for the doctors at the hospital... very important in case you have any allergies. 

  • Lystedt Forms: Also a form you turned in at the beginning of club season.

  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest Form   Info Sheet.  Also a form you turned in at the beginning of the club season.

In order to speed up the check-in process, please e-mail the completed and signed paperwork to billing@volleyballnw.com or fax it to (425) 671-5020 at least 5 days prior to the event.

ENTRY DETAILS: 

PLEASE NOTE: ANY ENTRIES RECEIVED AFTER THE ENTRY DEADLINE WILL BE PROCESSED, BUT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE OF ENTRY — WE DO NOT UPDATE THE TEAM LIST AFTER NOON ON FRIDAY.   TEAMS ACCEPTED AFTER THIS TIME WILL HAVE TO PAY A LATE FEE ON-SITE FOR REGISTERING LATE.  WE ALWAYS ENCOURAGE PRE-REGISTRATION — THERE ARE LIMITED OPENINGS IN EACH TOURNAMENT.

PRE-REGISTERED TEAMS: CHECK THE “EVENT PAGE". There is a link associated with each event. You will find team lists and event details on these pages.

  • All Events are open entry events.  You do not have to play in every event to participate.  
  • Every tournament has prizes for every age group and sometimes for an upper and lower division, depending on numbers of entries.  We want to prize up as many teams as possible, so even if you are new to beach, you have a chance!
  • Be sure to pick up the 2015 edition of our Series tee-shirt the first time you play!  
  • Get a second shirt when you play in the Subway Washington Games; all participants receive a State Games event shirt.
  • Prizes in all divisions and at all events for finalists

Cancellations and Changes

A full refund less $10 admin fee will be refunded without question if the request is made 7 days prior to the event after that no refund will be issued. Requests for refunds for medical reasons must be accompanied by a signed excuse from your physician. No exceptions.

A $10 change fee will be required to change from one event to another.  Change requests must be made 7 days prior to the event.

If a player is asked to leave due to disciplinary reasons, fees are not refundable.

All Cancellations or Changes must be put in writing and e-mailed to billing@volleyballnw.com


Series Points and end of season Raffle Details

For 2016 we will still keep track of points/rankings for our "Age Group" doubles series.  We will not award a series champion, though we will still award a net system.  We will award the net system as part of our end of season raffle at the Doubles Championships August 15th. You must be present to win. Raffle entry tickets to the Grand Prize (Net System) are earned as follows:

  • Two raffle tickets for placing First in the Gold Division
  • One raffle ticket for placing Second in the Gold Division

We will also have a TBA prize for the "Open" Doubles and Fours series winners.

Walk-up Registration to fill any openings. First Come first Served, but never before 7:30 .Parking? Street-side and Neighboring streets… first come first served
7:30 — Check-in Begins for all teams

WHAT YOU NEED AT CHECK-IN: 

If it is your first time playing in one of our events, you need to bring the following:

  • the Lystedt law form
  • The USA Volleyball Medical release form. 

We keep these all on file for the summer, so you turn it in your first tournament.  You can’t play if you don’t have it! If you have played already, and we have your information on file, simply come up and sign the Waiver Form. You must sign the waiver form so we know you are here.

No Later than 8:00 AM 

Rules Meeting and Court Assignment We go over the rules of beach volleyball and variations in place (doubles vs. fours) We assign you to your courts by age group for your pool play matches No guarantee that these will be your courts all day, but a good chance We explain how to use and fill out the pool sheet

Morning Pool Play Begins  If this is your first tournament of the summer, we give out our free summer event tee-shirt during pool Usually Round-robin pool play with pools of 3, 4, or 5 teams After pool is over, you turn your pool sheet into the tournament headquarters We ask that you verify the pool sheet before your turn it in.  Once the sheet is turned in it is official. Your meal/breaks are built into your pool play time (just like indoors) Once all the pools in your age group/division are completed, it takes about 15-20 minutes to seed for playoffs.  The sooner your pool gets finished, the more of a break you get  Lunch?  Usually during your pool play breaks

PRIZES?

Of course!  We usually give out prizes to at least 1st and 2nd place finishers.  We award merchandise and/or gift certificates from our series sponsors.  Because of amateur rules, we cannot award prizes larger in value than your entry fee.
